Murals at Cook Children's Medical Center
Flying Cows of Prosper, TX
Ceiling mural at Cook Children’s newest location in Prosper, TX. At approximately 900 sq.ft. and 2 stories high, these cows are ginormous!
How it started: weirdest connect the dots ever! The little dots are lights, some as large as my hand! The cows transform into constellations at night. The moon in the center is about 5’ long.
Blocking in the basic shapes... Many people ask if I paint by hand. Yep! My right hand, mostly. ; D I used 2" and 3" brushes for this mural.
Lights being installed around the mural.
The moon is glowing! Now the fun part begins... adding light and shadow! Did you notice Big Tex's wings?
Reworking the Big Guy again.
Hiya, Buddy!
This mural took about a month. I painted 3-4 days a week, about 8 hours a day. A literal pain-in-the-neck, but lots of fun!
Upside down fun! I also painted the can lights to camouflage them... bit of a "painting the roses red" situation.
Did you spot the heart, Texas, and Cook’s 3 peaks hidden in the cows?
Tadaa!!!
